Imam Yasser Fahmi met with students last Monday. He spoke of his background from Al-Ghazali Islamic School to his position as a teacher at Al-Azhar Mosque. Students were intrigued by his personal account and asked many questions relating to his schooling and teaching experiences. Many felt great connections and were inspired by the Imam.

Yesterday, middle school students attended the first web-designing session in a pilot program lead by Br. Aboubaker Abed from MIT. The program will be followed by winter and spring sessions as well.

  Malik Academy students are blessed to be in close proximity of Parker Hill Library, a branch from Boston Public Library. Students visit on a monthly basis and attend educational programs in addition to borrowing books.  The picture features first and second graders from yesterday’s visit.

Middle school students had a practical lesson of civic engagement by participating in the Muslim Day on the Hill in the State House today. Students were informed about the 3 bills being discussed, they practiced presenting the bills, and they met with 4 different state representatives to discuss the bills and ask them to vote

Students receive computer literacy classes on a weekly basis. Today, students from grade 5 practiced formatting documents by writing a short personal narrative. Malik Academy students enjoyed their first day of physical education at Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center across the street from the school building. Coach Aadam Abdul-Musawwir and Coach Ayesha Kazmi lead the physical education classes every Tuesday and offer a variety of activities.

Malik students participated in the student council election, last Friday November 6th. Prior to the election, the 5 candidates presented their platforms to students. They posted flyers and promoted their programs. On Friday, students voted for 3 candidates. The winners are Omar Mohamed, Menna Baraka, and Maryam Zad. The new student council members will meet
